How to Add Highlights to Your Instagram Profile
Instagram Highlights are a fantastic way to keep your favorite Stories on your profile long after their usual 24-hour expiration. They’re perfect for showcasing your best content, important information, or fun memories that you want your followers to see whenever they visit your page. Here’s a quick guide on how to add them.
Method 1: Create a Highlight from a Brand New Story
The easiest way to make a highlight is often right when you’re posting a new Story.
- Open Instagram: Launch the Instagram app on your device.
- Go to Your Profile: Tap your profile icon located in the bottom right corner of the screen.
- Start a New Story: Tap the plus (+) icon at the bottom center of your screen, then select "Story."
- Choose Your Content: Select the photo or video you want to upload from your gallery for your Story.
- Prepare to Share: Tap the arrow button in the bottom right corner to move to the sharing options.
- Add to Highlight: Before tapping "Share," look for an option at the top that says "Also share to Add to highlight." Tap the drop-down menu next to it.
- Name Your Highlight: A pop-up will appear. Enter a clear and catchy name for your new highlight (for example, "Adventures," "Recipes," or "Work Perks").
- Finalize: Tap "Done." Your Story will be shared, and your new highlight will instantly appear on your profile page.
Method 2: Create a New Highlight from Your Profile (or Add to an Existing One)
You can also create highlights from your profile using previously posted Stories from your archive, or add more stories to an existing highlight.
- Go to Your Profile: From your Instagram feed, tap your profile icon in the bottom right corner.
- Find Story Highlights: Below your "Edit Profile" button, you’ll see a section for "Story Highlights," often with a few circles.
- Start a New Highlight: Tap the large plus (+) icon within the "Story Highlights" section.
- Select Stories: You’ll be taken to your Story Archive. Browse through your past Stories and select all the ones you want to include in this new highlight.
- Next: Once you’ve selected your desired Stories, tap "Next" in the top right corner.
- Name and Edit: Give your highlight a relevant title. You can also tap "Edit Cover" to choose a specific image or icon for your highlight’s display picture.
- Add: Tap "Add" in the top right corner.
